LISTEN TO THE SOLO
This is a transcription of Jim Hall's solo (from Jim Hall Live) and a somewhat modified version of Don Thompson's bass line on "The Way You Look Tonight." The time, originally in common (4/4) time, is done as an uncommonly quick waltz (3/4), with the changes going by one per measure, as opposed to two per measure in the original. Guitar and bass sound an octave lower than written; x indicates a deadened or muffled string. Notice the varied use of rhythm and across the bar phrasing (e.g. measures 39-40), and don't miss the references to "Younger Than Springtime" (measures 33-36) and "Can't Help Lovin' That Man of Mine" (measures 41-47).
* Solo transcribed by Paul Thomas
* Images scanned from the record's original liner notes
